This program is required annual training for all members of the dental team.  This course utilizes the updates for preventing and controlling infectious diseases and managing personnel health and safety concerns related to infection control in dental settings. Updates and revisions made to previous CDC recommendations and concerns not addressed in previous recommendations for infection control in a dental setting are covered.

A thorough review of the current ADA/CDC/OSHA infection control recommendations will be presented, including:

·          Principles of Infection Control

·          Educating & protecting dental healthcare personnel

·          Hand hygiene

·          Disinfection and sterilization of patient care items

·          Personal protective equipment

·          OSHA regulations as related to infection control

·          Marketing infection control to patients

·          Post-exposure monitoring, follow-up and prophylaxis

Creating and maintaining a safe work environment ultimately requires the commitment and accountability of all dental health care personnel.

SPEAKER: MICHAEL L. MOONEY, MICP, BBA, is a graduate of  Temple University.  He has over 30 years experience in Emergency Medical Services. As a clinical education specialist with a major N.J. health system, he conducted training for all levels of medicine; including physicians, dentists, dental staff, nurses and first responders. He is currently employed at the National Center of the American Heart Association in Dallas, Texas as a National Field Consultant  for Emergency Cardiovascular Care programs. His presentations consistently are well received! He takes this subject and makes it fun and informative! Mike and his family reside in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

Non-surgical periodontal cases: HANDS ON!

This hands-on course is designed to assist dental practices with treatment planning periodontal therapy cases.           

Early periodontal therapy eludes the best of clinicians without consistent diagnostics and comprehensive treatment planning. Key components such as consistent periodontal screening, probing technique and risk assessment are a few of the topics that will be discussed at this interactive course.  Come experience first-hand the benefits of magnification while perfecting your probing technique and learning to place 10% doxycycline gel (Atridox). Treatment planning and risk assessment exercises will allow every participant to implement these skills first thing Monday morning! 

Hands-on training on Typodonts includes:

·          Atridox (10% doxycycline gel) placement

·          Probing technique

·          Magnification

Written exercises include:

·          Risk assessment

·          Treatment planning for periodontal screening
