This program is required annual training for all members of the dental team.  This course utilizes the updates for preventing and controlling infectious diseases and managing personnel health and safety concerns related to infection control in dental settings. Updates and revisions made to previous CDC recommendations and concerns not addressed in previous recommendations for infection control in a dental setting are covered.

A thorough review of the current ADA/CDC/OSHA infection control recommendations will be presented, including:

·          Principles of Infection Control

·          Educating & protecting dental healthcare personnel

·          Hand hygiene and personal protective equipment

·          Disinfection and sterilization of patient care items

·          OSHA regulations as related to infection control

·          Marketing infection control to patients

·          Post-exposure monitoring, follow-up and prophylaxis

Creating and maintaining a safe work environment ultimately requires the commitment and accountability of all dental health care personnel.

SPEAKER:   MICHAEL L. MOONEY, MICP, BBA is a graduate of Temple University.   He has over 28 years experience in Emergency Medical Services. As a clinical education specialist with a major N.J. health system, he conducted training for all levels of medicine, including physicians, dentists, dental staff, nurses and first responders. He is currently employed at the National Center of the American Heart Association in Dallas, TX as a  National Field Consultant for Emergency  Cardiovascular Care Programs.
